We’re thrilled to announce that Forêt du Pétrichor Eau de Parfum is back in very limited stock. Made in small, artisanal batches, this fragrance captures the essence of rain-drenched earth, Pacific Northwest forest, mineral-rich river rocks, and the delicate blooms of water lilies & wild Iris. This limited edition batch, FDP24, embodies the artisanal quality and care that define Forêt du Pétrichor. Every bottle is a unique reflection of nature’s magic.

Petrichor—the unmistakable scent of rain hitting dry soil.

This fragrance bottles the moment rain brings the earth to life, mingling with minerals, fresh foliage, and the watery elegance of sacred blue lotus. Inspired by the joy of flowing water and the magic of grounding earth, this perfume is a tribute to the harmony of rain, earth, and bloom.

The composition evolves like a rainstorm, shifting from dewy freshness to a grounded, earthy warmth:

These elements create a mineral aquatic fragrance with green floral aspects, blending watery aldehydic crispness with resinous warmth and delicate florals.

A Symphony of Scent

At the opening, the cool, refreshing notes of cucumber and melon aldehydes evoke the sensation of a misty, rain-soaked morning.

These aldehydes share a watery-green freshness, dewy and slightly sweet, with a subtle vegetal undertone that feels cooling and airy.

The fleeting top notes quickly give way to the luminous heart of blue lotus, cassie, and rose, blooming like water lilies on a tranquil pond.

As the fragrance settles, the grounding warmth of mitt attar, poplar bud, and vetiver emerges, blending with the powdery softness of Iris ( orris ) and the sensual richness of forest resins and ambergris.

This dry-down captures the earthy musk of rain-soaked minerals and resinous woods, embodying the grounding magic of petrichor.

***if you enjoy these musky green notes with classic powdery orris, I recommend pairing with our BOTANICAL MUSK solid parfum

The Science of Petrichor and Earth’s Healing Power

Petrichor isn’t just a poetic concept—it’s grounded in science. The term, coined in 1964, describes the aroma created when plant oils and a compound called geosmin (produced by soil-dwelling bacteria) are released into the air by rain. This distinctive scent is deeply nostalgic, stirring feelings of calm and connection.

PETRICHOR The smell of rain on hot earth or pavement. From Greek petra (stone, rock) + ichor (or I-KORE) which, in Ancient Greek mythology, was the liquid that flowed in the veins of the gods.

Beyond its aroma, the scent of soil has been shown to benefit mental health. Soil bacteria like Mycobacterium vaccae can stimulate serotonin production, reducing stress and uplifting mood.

Distilled Earth

Mitti Attar is from the distillation of special baked clay earth through the precious Indian Mysore Sandalwood. It is loosely translates to the smell of rain-soaked earth. You can find this exquisite and authentic pure parfum in our Forêt du Petrichor ( wet earth ) and our Coeur du Bois ( parched earth )
